If you want people to consider joining the pipes and drums you guys should maybe have a meeting point some where in Manhattan so its accessible to officers from other boroughs besides the Bronx. Truth is after work no one from other boroughs wants to travel to the ass end of the Bronx.
John,
As you may know the band was started by Bronx court officers in 1976. We are primarily sufficient and obtaining a location at low or no cost is paramount. Many of our members work in the city but live in the suburbs. Taking mileage and tolls into consideration we chose to the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx as the most convenient location. We have been able to secure practice locations in the Throggs Neck section since our inception at no cost. Obviously some members are inconvenienced more than others, this is part of being committed to the craft. I hope this explains our reasoning for the present location and thank you for your interest in joining the Band. Feel free to call me if you have any other questions. 845-661-9025.
Regards,
Rob
